Week 3 Recap

We are now 3-0 and boy does it feel great! Saturday was a great win for us
Hoosiers. Though we suffered some adversity in the first half,
we overcame it and played Hoosier football in the second half. Coach
Lynch really got on us at halftime. He challenged us to play harder, and
most of all, smarter. We all really took it to
heart and played that way in the second half.

I love our team. We have great chemistry and we know how to come
together. If we can keep up our togetherness we're bound for great
things. When you're in an atmosphere such as ours it allows
you to be comfortable because deep down inside you know that no matter
what happens, at the end of the day, you have each other. That's a
strong bond that no one can ever take from us.

Akron is a good football team that should be tough to beat in the MAC. The
Zips' wide out, Jabari Arthur, appears to be all of 6-4,
225 pounds. He is a very good player who made plays on Saturday.
Also, their quarterback who came off the bench, Carlton Jackson, made some
plays for
them.

KELLEN
On Saturday morning, while eating our pre-game meal, I read an
article about Kellen. It basically talked about how Kellen was so determined to be a quarterback
that he turned down all of the big in-state schools in his home state
of Florida to look for an opportunity to do just that. He was set and
ready to go to my prep rival school, Hargrave Military Academy (boo!),
before Coach Hep offered him an opportunity to throw the ball as a
Hoosier. We should now all be thankful for Coach Hep's great
judgment.

Now, with Kellen being my teammate and friend, I already knew the whole
story. But it was very refreshing to read this article. He obviously
had great determination to do something that he believed he could do,
but almost nobody else thought he could.

One of the things I really like about Kellen is how he plays as if
he's a kid playing a pick-up football game in the backyard. He plays
free, he plays loose, he plays without worries, and most importantly,
he plays with great confidence in his God-given abilities. I don't
think I've ever seen someone as loose as Kellen in practice and on
gamedays. It's awesome to see your quarterback do things
as if to say, "Relax, I got this."

Kellen rushed for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns on 18
carries. He also threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns. When I saw the yardage he garnered I was, at first, surprised. But then, as I thought about it, I was no longer surprised by his
performance. I thought about how he plays and the attitude he carries
about the game and it all made sense. I look for Kellen to have many
more sensational games like this one because, well, he can.

MESSAGE FOR THE ROAD
"I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength." Phil. 4:13

Thanks for the update. I know youre incredibly busy and you still find time to update your blog as much as or more than the Indy Star's Terry Hutchens. Ha.

It feels great from a fan perspective to be 3-0 too! Thanks again for all your hard work. You're a leader--help keep everyone focused. The work now gets much harder and Illinois will be tough. Go Hoosiers!
